Philadelphia Police Seek Pair In Society Hill Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are looking for two men in the shooting of another man on Monday night in the posh Society Hill neighborhood (see previous story).

The victim remains in "extremely critical" condition at Jefferson Hospital, and cops are hoping for help from local bars and restaurants, or the public.

Police lieutenant Ray Evers says that with the Monday night loss by the Eagles, maybe these guys got juiced up and were looking to pick a fight.

"We believe that these two males may have been in a bar in the area, and they may have been on 2nd Street or South Street," Evers said today.

The pair walked to 4th and Pine Streets, where Evers says they punched a 46-year-old man who was on his way to work -- the graveyard shift at a building nearby.

"There's a vicious battle," Evers says.  "This goes on for about 30 seconds.  And we believe that he, the complainant, was getting the best of these two males and they cowardly shot the male while he was on the ground."

Police have released a surveillance video, but the suspects' faces aren't clearly shown.

Cops describe the two they are looking for as white or light-skinned Hispanic men, one around 6'1" and 180 pounds, the other, 5'9" and 150 pounds, both wearing dark clothing.

Evers says one of the men had a "distinctive logo" on the back of his jacket.  Investigators hope someone will recognize it and give them a call.
