Former 76ers' Boss Pat Croce Reporting Success In Hunt For Explorer

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (CBS) -- Former Philadelphia 76ers president Pat Croce has been busy lately, searching for pirate remains off the coast of Panama.

He and his crew recently discovered what they believe is the ship of Sir Francis Drake, and now they're looking for Drake himself.

This isn't your typical missing persons search. Sir Francis Drake was buried at sea in 1596.  Croce has commissioned a crew of elite explorers with the latest technology to help him find the missing sea captain's body.

Croce says he has a different type of parade on his mind these days.

"His coffin, taken in a British royal funeral procession across the Atlantic, brought up the Thames and returned home," Croce muses, "and let them beat that Drake's drum that hasn't been beaten since, what, World War II?  That, to me, would be the ultimate."

Finding Drake won't be easy -- perhaps like a needle in a haystack?

"More like a needle in 10 haystacks," Croce says.

But Croce says he and the crew have done their research and believe they're looking in the right area.
