Man Arrested For Stripping Naked Inside Delaware Store

CHRISTIANA, Del. (CBS) -- A 20-year-old man who entered a store in Christiana, Delaware and stripped naked is undergoing evaluation.

Authorities say Darrell J. Coleman of Wilmington entered the Burlington Coat Factory in the University Plaza Shopping Center at about 11:20 a.m. Friday and was fully clothed. Once in the store, police say he started to remove his clothes.

Coleman, police say, ignored requests by store employees asking him to leave.

Police say the man completely stripped naked and began running through the store. At one point, he bumped into a 72-year-old female customer, slightly injuring her.

Several employees attempted to subdue Coleman until police arrived and took him into custody.

Authorities say he was taken to Christiana Hospital to undergo mental evaluation.

Several employees and a customer were treated for minor injuries.

Danielle Arceneaux, Burlington Coat Factory spokesperson, said the company is cooperating with local authorities and cannot make any further comments on the incident.

Charges are pending.
