Chris Christie Wants White House Speculation To Stop

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) - The political speculation surrounding New Jersey Governor Chris Christie just won't stop. He's now being asked about a potential Vice Presidential slot on next year's GOP national ticket.

"How many different ways am I gonna answer this?" Christie asked reporters.

He's made it clear he doesn't want the job and hasn't been asked. To be candid, no one is going to ask until they've got the nomination in hand. But that doesn't stop reporters from posing the question in one form or another.

"It's like waiting to get asked out on a date and saying "no" before the woman even asks you. It's kind of rude and it's never happened to me. But I live and hope, you know?"

The Governor didn't exactly close the door on the question, though and that's by design given his desire to confront issues like that when they have to be confronted, not just on mere press speculation.

Besides, Christie figures if he says no to VP, questions will begin to swirl about potential cabinet posts. So he'll wait to see who the nominee is and then see if any offer is actually made.
