College Football: West Chester, Cheyney Battle on Saturday

CHEYNEY, Pa. (CBS) - It will be a neighborhood battle on Saturday as Cheyney hosts West Chester University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match-up.

West Chester has dominated this series all-time, winning 42 of the 45 match-ups including a 48-34 decision last season, and Cheyney is just 1-5 in 2011.

But West Chester Golden Rams head coach Bill Zwaan says they expect a battle in this one.

"They've been playing everybody tougher in the league over the last couple of years," he says.  "They are doing a really good job over there of getting their kids to play hard.  So it's not something that we are looking past by any stretch of the imagination.  We understand how important this game is as we head into the back end of our schedule."

What does Zwaan's team needs to do in this one?

"We don't want to commit any turnovers, and we want to cause them to have some turnovers," he says.  "Our kicking game... I think we have a little stronger kicking game and that's going to be to our advantage.  And we have to get out there and, right from the get-go, be ready."

Cheyney is coming off 45-10 loss to Bloomsburg.   Despite the 1-5 record, Wolves head coach Kenny Lockard says he sees improvement.

"Every week, we're getting better and better," he tells KYW Newsradio.  "The guys are playing hard and they are playing to the end of every game -- you saw it last weekend Bloomsburg.  We're still working and trying to put more points on the board every time we get the ball."

West Chester beat up Shippensburg last week, 52-17, to improve to 3-3.

Kickoff at Cheyney is set for 1:00pm on Saturday.
