Facebook Reunites Long Lost Friends

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Facebook has a unique way of uniting people, whether it's those who live around the corner from one another and don't know it or assisted those who have long since moved from the Philadelphia area in the process of reconnecting with old friends.

Lora Orth of Feasterville grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and was a Torresdale cheerleader in the 70's and although she didn't move far away, she says, "It's been just wonderful connecting with old classmates."

And because of Facebook, "I actually reconnected with the coach of Torresdale cheerleading and I had the privilege of coaching with her for a year."

Patricia Wall grew up here and now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She says not only has she reconnected with friends she lost touch with, but one high school acquaintance has now become a close friend all due to Facebook.

"Elizabeth Lipp. I just love her posts and she is just so inspirational. The last time we were up we got together."

And the President of the Mayfair Civic Association Joseph DeFelice says Facebook has transformed they way they communicate. Instead of putting flyers in front doors, they can reach thousands of people by posting on their Facebook page.
