Baby Struck By Car In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A 22-month-old child is recovering at an area hospital after falling out of a moving vehicle and being struck by a car on Sunday, according to authorities.

The accident happened at about noon near Allegheny Avenue and Fox Street in North Philadelphia.

Authorities say the child fell out of the back seat and through the door of a Chevrolet Trailblazer when it made a left turn on Fox Street. The investigation revealed that the child was unrestrained in the vehicle, police said.

Authorities say the driver of the car that struck the baby accompanied the victim and the driver of the Chevrolet to the hospital.

The victim is listed in critical condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
