Topping-Out Ceremony Marks New Milestone At Lankenau Medical Center

WYNNEWOOD, Pa. (CBS) -- A topping-out ceremony yesterday marked a milestone in the new construction at Lankenau Medical Center.

Employees signed a beam to be placed at the top of the new $529-million patient pavilion being built at Lankenau. Medical Center President Phil Robinson says construction started a year ago, and the patient tower shold be open in June 2013.

"A five-story structure that includes new intensive care units, all private rooms focused on heart and vascular care," said Robinson

"All of us in health care are committed to being here for the communities we serve. And this new project, this new building program, will allow us to meet that commitment -- but to do it at a higher level," added Main Line Health CEO Jack Lynch.

Also part of the project at Lankenau - a new 1300-car parking garage, opening next month.
