Suspect Sought In Connection To West Chester Child Luring Attempts, Exposure

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in the West Chester area very much want to find the owner of a small to medium-sized blue vehicle (pictured) that they believe is connected to the attempted luring of children on two separate occasions.

During the most recent incident, police say the driver exposed himself to a young girl.

Police say that latest incident happened around 6:45 Thursday morning at the corner of Rosedale and Ceredo Avenues just outside the borough of West Chester in West Goshen Township. They say a man driving a car that matches the description of the one pictured drove by that intersection and starting waving at a girl who was waiting for her school bus. She ignored him and he eventually drove off.

But police say he returned a moment later, stopped in the middle of the road and motioned for her to get in the car. When she did not, he exposed himself.

The girl was able to run to her house.

"Wow," said Hallie Romanowski, whose son is normally at that same bus stop. "That's very alarming."

Neighbors say the girl, who goes to private school, was waiting alone because West Chester public schools were closed Thursday for Rosh Hashanah. Normally, several other children are also at that bus stop.

"That's not something you think would happen in your neighborhood," Romanowski said. She says even with West Chester University right across the street, there is hardly anyone else around at that time of the morning.

Police believe this attempted luring is connected to a similar incident that occurred last Thursday in West Chester. That's where they were able to capture a surveillance photo of the car.

The girl from this week's incident was able to work with Chester County Detectives who put together a composite sketch of the man. He is believed to be in his late 20's or early 30's and is clean shaven with short brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to please call police.
