In Center City Philadelphia, A Pro-Fitness Dance Rave

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A center city lunchtime crowd today was treated to a street performance promoting fitness through dance.

Participants in the mass performance were dancing to Beyoncé's "Move Your Body."  The event was organized by the Health Promotion Council in Philadelphia to promote nutrition and fitness for adults.

"We are doing it to fight obesity, really," says Tinesha Banks, a spokeswoman for the group.  "Childhood obesity is certainly an epidemic, as we all know, but the major influences in a child's life are their parents and grandparents -- the adults in a child's life -- so we as adults can be hip.  We can doggie, we can do the catwalk with everybody else.  So we want to promote health and wellness and being physically active, and do it publicly."

Lead dancers held signs saying, "Fighting Obesity, one dance move at a time."  The dancing was choreographed and performed by a group of about 20 HPC employees. Social media was used to gather a crowd to cheer the dancers on.
