Football: Breaking Down Saturday's Penn State-Temple Matchup

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Lincoln Financial Field will be the place to be for local college football fans this Saturday, as Temple hosts Penn State.

The Owls come into this game with a 2-0 record and an offense that has hit the ground running in 2011.   Temple has scored 83 points combined in wins over Villanova and Akron.

But one thing that Temple rarely does is beat the Nittany Lions.

Penn State leads this all-time series, 36-3-1, and that includes a 22-13 Nittany Lion win last season at Beaver Stadium.

In fact, Joe Paterno has never lost to the Owls: he is 27-0 versus Temple in his illustrious coaching career.

The 1-1 Nittany Lions come to Philadelphia fresh off a 27-11 home thumping at the hands of #2 Alabama.   Previously, Penn State had throttled Indiana State, 41-7.

KYW's Matt Leon gets insight from both sides of this match-up -- talking with one of the best writers on the Penn State beat, Mark Brennan, editor of FightOnState.com, and KYW's own Harry Donahue, the longtime radio voice of the Owls.
