South Philly Pizza Shop Adds Indian Flavor To The Cheesesteak

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's a taste of India--Philly style.

It's not on the menu, but the $6 Tandori chicken cheesesteak sandwich is very popular at Little Sicily II, a store nestled in a strip mall along Columbus Blvd near Tasker Street.

Chicken is chopped on the grill and cooks with hot peppers, Indian spices, fresh ginger, lime juice and American cheese, served on a hoagie roll.

Rohit Patel, originally from India, is the co-owner of the eatery.

"People telling to each other over there they have spicy chicken cheese steak like Indian style so many people start coming in wanting more. So we just start making more and more."

He says they can make beef and veggie versions of the sandwich. Indian style,  pizza steaks are also made to order.

Gregory Sabo from South Philly eats at Little Sicily II every day.

"This is one of South Philadelphia's hidden gems."
