Police: Chase In Bucks County Ends When Driver Shoots Himself

HILLTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Bucks County are saying very little about an early morning chase that began in Hilltown and ended in Richland Township with a driver turning a gun on himself.

When police tried to pull over a car around midnight, near Summit Avenue and Township Line Road, in Hilltown, Bucks County, the driver refused to stop and sped off towards Route 309 North.

While fleeing pursuing police, the unidentified driver allegedly fired shots at cops. No police were hurt, but one patrol car was struck and disabled.

Police say they never returned fire, but according to police the driver of the car they were chasing,  turned his gun on himself, went out of control and wound up in a ditch along Route 309 near Tollgate Road where he was found unresponsive with a bullet wound to the head.

No word on his identity, or on what started the chase. The investigation continues.
