Emergency Preparedness Phone Bank For Hurricane Irene

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - CBS 3 and The CW Philly are teaming up once again with the American Red Cross for an emergency preparedness phone bank to help viewers take action as Hurricane Irene threatens our area this weekend.

Personnel from the American Red Cross will staff a phone bank on-air at CBS 3 and The CW Philly Friday, August 26th from 3 to 8 p.m. to provide information on disaster and emergency preparedness and hurricane safety checklists to help families, property owners and businesses plan accordingly. Viewers can call 1-877-KYW3-ASK (1-877-599-3275).

"We are committed to working side-by-side with our viewers to help them pinpoint their vulnerabilities in the wake of this storm and what measures they should take in order to help reduce the effects of this hurricane as it makes landfall," says CBS 3 and CW Philly President and General Manager Jon Hitchcock.

Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes, CEO of the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Red Cross, adds, "It's critical that our citizens are prepared for Irene and all disasters. We cannot be complacent. CBS 3 and The CW Philly are providing a great public service in ensuring the region is Red Cross ready."
