Newborn Taken From Hospital Of The University Of Pennsylvania Has Been Found, Amber Alert Cancelled

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A two-day-old baby taken from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania by his mother has been found and the Amber Alert has been cancelled.

The newborn boy, just two days old, was found in Southwest Philadelphia at about 4:30 p.m. The baby, who was in need of medical attention, was taken out of HUP about noon Thursday. An alarm sensor was attached to the child's umbilical cord.

According to police, the child was taken by his mother, Tonya Dixon, 39, who was allegedly fearful that the Department of Human Services would take the baby away from her.

The baby has been returned to HUP. Further details were not immediately available.
