Philadelphia Hosts Convention For LGBT Journalists And Bloggers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Hundreds of LGBT journalists and bloggers will be in Philadelphia next week for an annual convention.

Over 350 journalists and bloggers will be in Philadelphia August 25th through the 28th for the 21st annual National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association Convention at the Lowes Hotel.  Kevin A. Barry, Convention Co-Chair, says there will be a number of workshops and special events, many of them focusing on coming out in the newsroom.

"There still seems to be a perceived bias," Barry says. "I think it's something that has been changing over time, it's been getting a little bit better, but there is still some out there."

Barry says one of the standout seminars - The Out Field, Gay Sports Revolution - will discuss the growing number of openly gay professional athletes in the U.S. For more info, go to www.nlgja.org.
