Voorhees Pre-K Students Hold Alex's Lemonade Stand

VOORHEES, NJ (CBS) - A New Jersey day care center is holding a fifth annual fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand on Thursday.

The lemonade stand will be run by the pre-kindergarten class at the Virtua Hospital Development Center in Voorhees. Kathy Hilferty teaches the Pre-K students and says Alex's Lemonade Stand is the perfect fundraiser for the students.

"Since this charity was started by a child, Alex Scott, we felt it was very appropriate to teach them a lesson on giving and caring."

Hilferty says the 4 and 5 year-olds do most of the work for the fundraiser.

"It's basically the Pre-K students who make the lemonade, serve the lemonade and pour the lemonade and look adorable for all the people who come visit."

The fundraiser has brought in more than $7,000 over the past five years. This year's event will take place on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 90 Carnie Blvd in Voorhees. If you cannot make it there, you can donate $10 by texting "lemonade A-75495" to the phone number 85944.
