PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – An alleged drunk driver was arrested early Thursday morning after police say she slammed into a car driven by an off-duty police officer.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. at Belmont Avenue and Monument Road in Wynnefield Heights.

According to investigators, the unidentified female driver struck a car that was being driven by an off-duty Philadelphia police officer.

After hitting the officer’s car, police say the driver exited her car and hid in some bushes at nearby Bala Golf Club. Officers eventually located the suspect and she was taken into custody.

Police say the woman has been charged with DUI and fleeing the scene.

The off-duty police officer suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The incident remains under police investigation.
