Ambler Group Helps Provide Air Conditioners For Sick Children

AMBLER, Pa. (CBS) - An Ambler-based non-profit group that helps families with youngsters suffering with chronic illnesses is doing its part to keep them cool.

Peggy Dolan, founder and executive director of the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, named for her late daughter, says the group has been distributing air conditioners and funding to help keep them running to families throughout the summer.

She says the window air conditioners are needed, especially by youngsters with serious breathing conditions.

"Today, a child with severe asthma or cystic-fibrosis, if they don't have it, they go into a crisis which sends them to the emergency room, may lead to a hospitalization."

And that, she says, costs much more than a window air conditioner and money to keep it running.

Dolan says her organization continues to receive grants and funding from a variety of sources, but she is looking to the community to also do its part to help neighbors in need.
