Ventor Residents Warned Of E-coli Contamination in Water Supply

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials in Ventnor City, Atlantic County, New Jersey are asking residents to boil their water before using it.

E-coli bacteria was found in the Ventnor water supply on Wednesday.

So, officials are urging residents to boil their water or use bottled water for drinking, cleaning, food preparation and other needs until further notice.

The bacteria can make people sick, especially those with weakened immune systems.

Officials say testing continues and they will alert residents when the bacteria is no longer present.

Ventnor officials hope to resolve the problem within 72 hours.
