People Travel From All Over The World To Attend Lotovention In Northeast Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Some people collect coins, others antiques and sports cards. But in Northeast Philadelphia this weekend, a small but dedicated group of scratch-off lottery ticket collectors are gathering for their annual convention.
Collectors are methodically sifting through heaping piles of old lottery tickets and trading with others who've come to Philly for the 23rd annual Lotovention.
"They're very colorful all kinds of themes and topics and its just fun to see how much tickets you can acquire," says Bill Pasquino, he hosts the events along with Steve Gilbert.
"We've found thousands of tickets."
Reporter: "At what point are you going to cross the line of collector to hoarder?"
"I think I crossed the line a few years ago," Pasquino admitted.
Marie Lasgne flew in from France along with her husband Pierre. They've been collecting for decades.
"It's big as a hobby, now maybe obsession. I begin 7 a.m. in the morning until sometimes 9 p.m."
