Philadelphia's New Archbishop Charles Chaput

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was a momentous week for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia with the departure of Cardinal Rigali and a man from the west replacing him.

His name is Rocco Palma. He's the editor of Whispers in the Loggia, a blog that attracts three quarters of a million people a month. And he's known the new Archbishop Charles Chaput for years.

"This is someone who I think is going to represent the most dramatic change we've seen in an Archbishop here in at least 100 years. You know someone who's never worked in the northeast before, who drives himself around, who doesn't have the kind of entourage that we've come to expect and the kind of "stateness" we've come to expect from Philadelphia Archbishops."

Marita Green has fought the battles against priest sex abuse in Boston and Philadelphia. She's happy about the change and hopes for a more transparent church with the arrival of new Archbishop Charles Chaput.

"You bring a man from the other part of the country who has a different way of looking at problems and lay people and we hope that we've heard that he communicates and that he will answer letters and emails."
