Local Author Releases New Version Of Book Documenting Lex Street Murders

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A revised edition of a comprehensive look at one of Philadelphia's worst crimes is now available, in all its eye-popping detail.

Philadelphia and the nation were rocked back in 2000 by word of the Lex Street massacre with seven people dead and three more wounded in a West Philadelphia home.
Author Antonne Jones says this new edition of Equal Verdicts contains more interviews, including with the killer who is behind bars for life. But a lot of the tale is about four men first arrested in the crime.

"That's why the book is called Equal Verdicts, because the wrongly-accused suspects and the later convicted essentially received life sentences. Those four guys, everywhere they go they'll always be recognized for the Lex Street murders. When they go apply for jobs, their rap sheets come up with being charged for almost ten homicides, how do you explain that to an employer?" says Jones.

Jones says one of the wrongly accused in fact did lose a job when his employer found out.
