NJ Investigating Test Results From 12 Schools

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- State investigators will review test results in nine public and three charter schools in New Jersey.

The action comes after officials discovered a high number of erasures in November.

In a memo to administrators, acting Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf wrote that the reports do not prove cheating or implicate any teacher in wrongdoing.

Cerf says showing that a significantly higher-than-normal rate of answers in 2010 were erased and changed from wrong to right might reflect students' catching their own mistakes.

The Education Department is taking the review in the wake of recent cheating scandals in Atlanta and New York City.
