UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) – Police are investigating a deadly shooting outside a Delaware County bar early Monday morning.

The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. outside Rhythms Sports Bar & Grille on Garrett Road in Upper Darby.

According to investigators, the incident began as an altercation inside the bar that eventually ended up outside of the bar.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified male in the street who was shot once in the head and the face. The male was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was later pronounced dead.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says the bar is a constant nuisance in the neighborhood.

“We’ve been trying to close this place down for months and we’ll continue to try to close it down because it’s nothing but trouble. This is the second shooting at this location in the last year,” Chitwood explained.

Chitwood said the bar keeps changing its name, but the trouble surrounding the venue remains the same.

Detectives found at least 12 casings from a semi-automatic gun from Monday’s shooting.

No suspects have been taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
