History Reenacted With Philly Twist During 17th Annual Bastille Day Festival

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The 17th Annual Storming of the Bastille took place Saturday at Eastern State Penitentiary.

The Bastille Day Street Festival took a comical look back at the events that sparked the French Revolution, but with a Philly twist.

The event offered French foods and crafts, and entertainment for both kids and adults.

"There's some beautiful samples of wine," said one visitor.

"Everybody has a good time and it is an event that is getting bigger everyday."

Thousands of people gathered in front of the landmark to watch the highlight of the day's event which was when Marie Antoinette gave the orders for her troops to bombard the crowd with thousands of TastyKakes.

"Let them eat TastyKakes!!"

The Storming of the Bastille concluded with Marie facing death by guillotine. But being a family friendly event, her life was spared.
