$1 Million Bail Set For Suspect In Mercer County Shooting

EWING, NJ (CBS) -- Police have determined that a dispute over a parking place is the blame for a fatal shooting in Mercer County on Thursday afternoon.

Police say Wayne Voorhees, 50, barricaded himself in the Versailles apartment complex after shooting Timothy Rivella, 24.(see related story)

At 8:30 p.m. police found Voorhees with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. In Voorhees' possession were three shotguns, a rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Voorhees was taken to Capitol Health Systems at Fuld and is currently in intensive care and listed in serious condition. According to police, he is expected to survive.

Rivella, lso lived in Versailles apartment complex and according to police had been feuding with Voorhees over a parking space before the shooting. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

Voorhees has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, bail has been set at $1 million by Superior Court Judge F. Patrick McManimon.
