Jim's Steaks Manager Robbed Of $30K In Broad Daylight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The manager of a popular South Street stop was robbed in broad day light yesterday, and the police say the thief made off with quite a bit of cash.

Jim's Steaks is a South Street landmark. Tourists line up to get one 'with' and they can tell you it's a cash-only business. So, police say yesterday the manager was walking home with the day's proceeds when, he tells them, he was knocked over by a thief who took the entire $30,000.

Now, it's unusual for this kind of strong-arm street theft to net that kind of haul, so police are looking at all kinds of scenarios. Today's Jim's crew was not on yesterday.

Manager Maxine Harvey says she heard about it on the news, "It's devastating, because we just lost our boss, you know one of our bosses passed away, too. It's kind of sad."

Harvey says she knows the manager who was robbed and she's worked with him for 35 years.
