Child Drowns In Family's Indoor Pool In Bucks County

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - A 1-year-old child died Thursday afternoon after drowning in his family's indoor pool in Bucks County.

A little before 3 p.m., police arrived at the home in the 4400 block of East Yates Road in Bensalem to find a relative trying to resuscitate the child. Officer Dave Marshall and Detective Adam Kolman took custody of the boy and tried to revive him, but to no avail.

The victim was transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital where he later died.

Further investigation revealed the boy was in the care of family members inside the home, but walked into another room where the pool was located. He accidentally fell into the pool and was found by his aunt at a later time.

It is unknown how long the child was under water. Investigators say one of the family members thought the child was in the care of another relative in the room.

The case remains under investigation.
