Wilmington Officers Nab 'High Risk Offender'

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Two Wilmington police officers on patrol nabbed a suspect on the High Risk Offender list on Friday night.

Officers Steven Barnes and Raymond Mullin were patrolling the area of 12th and Washington Streets in Wilmington when they spotted High Risk Offender Jamar Smith.

Smith saw the officers and began to run, then pulled a weapon from his pocket and threw it towards West 9th Street.

After a brief chase, Smith was taken into custody, and the weapon, a gun containing ten bullets, was located.

Smith, of West 25th Street, is charged with Possession of Firearm by a Person Prohibited With Prior Violent Crimes, Possession of Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest.
