Stabbing In Northeast Philadelphia Prison Leaves 1 Inmate Dead
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A stabbing incident at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility along State Road in Northeast Philadelphia left one inmate dead and three others hospitalized.
Authorities say the incident happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday night in the "C" building.
A 42-year-old inmate, who was stabbed in the chest, was pronounced dead at Aria-Torresdale Hospital.
Two 24-year-old inmates were stabbed in the back and stomach and a 28-year-old inmate was stabbed in the back. All three are reportedly in stable condition.
Police and prison officials are investigating the situation. It is unclear where the weapons came from and who was responsible for the stabbings. The names of those involved have not been released.
Inspector Scott Small says the entire incident remains under investigation. The area where the incident happened had been the focus of a narcotics shakedown.
