Republican Jon Huntsman To Enter The 2012 Race For President

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Another week, another entry in the Republican race for president.

A year ago, a key White House source told us that the candidate most feared by Democrats was Jon Huntsman. At that time he was Barack Obama's Ambassador to China.

Soon, he will formally announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President (see related story). The two-term ex-governor of Utah and winner of several straw polls for President is viewed as an alternative to Mitt Romney.

Some things to look for: The University of Pennsylvania grad is known for running unconventional campaigns; he has a youthful appeal and is well-positioned to get Democratic votes. He's got millions to burn and Republican insiders say he'll be tough competition.

He may soon get company with word that Texas Governor Rick Perry may enter the field later in the week.
