Local Website Offers One-Stop Shopping For Locating Bars, Happy Hours And Drink Specials 7 Days A Week
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you are always looking for new bars or tips on hot happy hours, there is a web site that does just that for Philadelphia and the Jersey shore.
Adam Schmidt is the founder of the websites drinkphilly.com and drinkjerseyshore.com.
He first came up with the idea during college, when he created an excel spreadsheet of bars across Philadelphia so he and his buddies would have a comprehensive drinking guide since there weren't any on the web.
After college, seeing an untapped market, he launched drinkphilly.com and it is quite user-friendly.
"The way the website works is you go to the day and you click on it and it will just give you a huge list of drink specials and then from there you can actually sort by different filters; like if you are looking for a beer bar, a wine bar, if you are looking for game day specials, you can find exactly where you want to drink at any given time."
Drinkphilly.com lists over 300 hundred bars and close to 300 daily drink specials.
And according to Schmidt, there's more.
"As an incentive for signing up for our news letter on drinkphilly.com, every week we give away a free happy hour to one of our subscribers and four of their friends and we try to find a bar that we know they'll like."
And if you enjoy drinking at the shore, Schmidt has a summertime site for that too.
"This past Memorial Day weekend we launched drinkjerseyshore.com which is the exact same concept as drinkphilly. It's sort of an overall guide to drinking well while you are on vacation."
