'Art In The Open' Along The Banks Of The Schuylkill River

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - "Art in the Open" begins today with artists making art along the banks of the Schuylkill River through Sunday.

A select group of artists will make the banks of the Schuylkill River their studio. In the French tradition of plein art painting, art done in the open, artists will be working in a variety of media and styles ranging from sculpture to dance to installation art to painting.

"It's an opportunity for them and the general public to meet and engage and have a dialogue about art, about what they're doing, but also for the public see how artists, visual artists, work," Co-founder Mary Salvante said.

There's a special family day scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Skate Park. For more info, go to www.artintheopenphila.org
