PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Like lilies? A lot? Then you’ll enjoy the extravaganza Lilytopia at Longwood Gardens this week featuring over 10,000 luscious lilies – proof positive that ‘too much is never enough.’
So many lilies in one space are spectacular to see, particularly the way they’re displayed in Longwood’s Conservatory – terrifically tall towers of lilies, voluminous vases loaded with lilies, and lots of other containers overflowing with lily goodness. You’ll get to see several hundred lily hybrids and cutting edge cultivars – some so new they don’t even have names yet as the breeders have been working their magic, to mix pollens from various varieties to see what new color combinations, stunning sizes, and special shapes they can create.
A trip to Lilytopia makes a great one-day getaway – so many sights and smells, it’s like a mini vacation. Plus you can enjoy the rest of Longwood Gardens too – but remember, Lilytopia runs this week only, from 9am to 6 pm through Memorial Day, Monday May 30th.
