It's The 27th Annual Celebration Of Black Writing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The 27th annual celebration of black writing kicks off Monday in North Philadelphia.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Let's Have Some Serious Fun" with over 100 artists, writers, editors, publishers, scholars, spoken-word artists, playwrights, and filmmakers.

"Most of these book festivals around country are like a rain storm; they come, they rain all of this great literature on you and then they're gone. What we're trying to do is much more like this spring - seeping rain that's gentle and it comes in and it goes way deep and way down," says Lorene Cary, executive director of Art Sanctuary.

Highlights over the next two weeks include a mini-music festival for children and communities especially touched by incarceration.
