Mayor Nutter's Chief Of Staff To Step Down

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Mayor Nutter's Chief of Staff, Clay Armbrister, is leaving city government, once they wrap up the budget season. The Mayor wishes his trusted 'friend, counsel and guide' the best.

Mayor Nutter says Armbrister has been a skilled manager and a dedicated public servant. "There is in city government no more personally intense relationship than that of the mayor and chief of staff."

Armbrister says his time at City Hall has been challenging and rewarding, but "…there comes a time in your life when you have to turn pages. I think I'm at that point in my life."

He says it's premature to identify his potential future employer. "I would think that if we can get the budget process done, I'll be leaving shortly thereafter."

Suzanne Biemiller, who current is Director of Policy, Planning and Coordination, will become Interim Chief of Staff.

Armbrister will pass along a memento and note from his predecessor, "here is a club for the chief. I hope you never have to use it, but feel free, if you need to."
