Thor Keeps Hammering Competition At The Box Office

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The thunder of Thor continues.

The comic book-inspired fantasy epic, Thor, made it two number-one finishes in a row as it earned an estimated $35-million in its second weekend of release.

A solid second place belonged to Bridesmaids, the comedy starring Kristen Wiig, which took in $24-million on its debut weekend.

The action-thriller holdover, Fast Five, was third with $20-million.

Fourth place went to Priest, the new horror thriller with Paul Bettany.  It totaled $15-million.

And rounding out the top five was the animated Rio, with $8-million.

Overall, totals were down compared to last weekend and the same frame last year, but expectations are high for next weekend, with the release of potential blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
