South Street Bar Gets Guidance From A Reality Show

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A South Street bar will be getting the help of an upcoming television show that takes an aggressive approach in transforming businesses.

The show is called "Bar Rescue." Spike TV is doing ten episodes, with one being shot at Downey's at Front and South Streets.

Bar, restaurant and nightclub consultant Jon Taffer is the host.

The concept of the show is to turn a slow business around through renovations, pointers on marketing and giving an attitude adjustment here and there to employers or employees.

Taffer says he has to take a no nonsense approach.

"And what we are doing is what typically would be a three month process in five days. So I really don't have the time to mess around. I have no time for politics, I have to be direct and I have to solve every problem in front of me -- not in days, not in months, but in minutes. So it creates quite a bit of pressure."

"Bar Rescue" will air on Spike TV over the summer.
