Man Found Dead After SWAT Incident In Gloucester County
PITMAN, N.J. (CBS) - A man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a standoff with police inside a Gloucester County home early Thursday morning.
The incident started at about 6 a.m. after the report of a gunshot from inside a home in the 100 block of East Holly Avenue in Pitman, New Jersey.
Police were called to the scene after receiving a phone call from a female companion of the unidentified man stating that she heard a gunshot fired inside the residence.
After neighboring homes were evacuated, members of the SWAT team entered the home and found the man deceased. A weapon was on the floor near where he was found.
As a result of the situation, the Pitman Middle School was closed as a precaution.
