PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Here’s a plant sale that’s very close to my heart, because it’s where I went to school to learn about horticulture – The Arboretum School of the Barnes Foundation in Merion, PA. Yes, the same Barnes Foundation with all those famous paintings! The art is set to move downtown to the Parkway, but the Arboretum – lovingly nurtured for decades by Laura Barnes who started the Arboretum School – will remain firmly rooted in Merion.

The Barnes Plant sale is made for early birds – it runs this Saturday, May 7th from 8:30 am to 12 noon, so it should be the first stop on your list. Barnes Members get a 10% discount and first pick of the plants because the members’ preview starts even earlier at 7:30 am – and you can join at the door. So set your alarm and plan to start your plant sale tour this Saturday at the Barnes Arboretum on Latches Lane in Merion, PA.
