'Knock Out Homelessness' Fundraiser At Chickie and Pete's In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A special event tonight in South Philadelphia will help the homeless with the story of one incredible athlete who once lived on the streets.

Chickie and Pete's in South Philadelphia will host Knock Out Homelessness with Matthew Saud Muhammed, former light heavyweight champion and Philly legend with his own story of homelessness and redemption.

Kevin Roberts is editor of One Step Away, Philadelphia's first street newspaper.

"Matthew's life story is all about being able to get up after you've been knocked down - that you can get up and keep going forward and that's when you give yourself a chance," Roberts said.

Former Phillies All-Star Darren Daulton and former Olympic and world heavyweight champion Joe Frazier will also be at the event, which will include Wii boxing and other video gaming and a silent auction. It will benefit One Step Away and other organizations in the region who work against homelessness.
