Eyes of Philadelphia Are On British Royal Wedding Fashions

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Wedding planners and fashionistas are eagerly awaiting tomorrow's British royal wedding.

Not unexpectedly, the nuptials of Will and Kate are expected to set off a variety of trends in the wedding industry.

Master bridal consultant Mark Kingsdorf, owner of "Queen of Hearts" wedding consultants in Philadelphia, says the wedding trends will depend on what we the public gets to see of the wedding.

He says the most obvious trend will be based on Kate's dress.

"The gown is really a reflection of the wedding and of the bride, so there are people prepared to start sketching a knock-off.  They'll be in production before the end of the weekend, available at a bunch of different price points," he says.

He thinks there are sure to be brides who will want to replicate Kate's veil, flowers, transportation, and bridesmaids' dresses.

And Kingsdorf says Kate won't be the only trendsetter:

"Kate's mom is a younger mom, she is a commoner, but they're fairly well off, so I think that she may very well set fashion trends."

He also notes that the trends won't be limited to clothing.

"I think the technology of it, both with the wedding web site and the streaming video, are going to be a huge trend," he says.
