West Philadelphia Teen Shot And Killed While Sitting On Front Porch

WEST PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A West Philadelphia teenager was shot to death Sunday evening while sitting on the porch of his home. The hunt is now on for two men, one of whom police say was the gunman.

When police arrived around 6 p.m., they found the 18-year-old victim, identified as Jarrell Seay, shot twice on the porch of his home on the 1300 block of N. 55th Street.

Investigators say it all started when two males knocked on the door and they asked the victim's father if Jarrell was home. Police say Jarrell came to door, stepped out on the porch, words were exchanged, and then one of the men shot Seay twice.

He was taken to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead.

"None of this makes any sense, it never does, kid's at home, someone knocks on the door, apparently and the kid is shot to death, it's just one more senseless death," commented Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey.

Seay played basketball at Wyncote Academy in Montgomery County. Police are not releasing any possible motives for the shooting at this time.
