Germantown Car Accident Leaves 1 Man Dead, 3 Injured

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One man is dead and three others sustained injuries Sunday afternoon after a vehicular accident in the city's Germantown neighborhood.

At about 3 p.m., Philadelphia Police arrived at the scene on Wissahickon Avenue and West Rittenhouse Street to find an overturned red Jeep. Investigators say the vehicle ran the red light and struck an occupied Buick near the intersection.

The unidentified male passenger in the Jeep was transported to Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at about 3:52 p.m., according to authorities.

Investigators say the male driver of the Jeep, who may have been under the influence, was also taken to the medical center for injuries to his chest and head. He is listed in stable condition.

The two occupants of the Buick sustained minor injuries but were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
