Delaware Offers Discount On Eco-Friendly Rain Barrels
DOVER, Del. (AP) -- With April showers already here, state environmental officials are offering Delawareans a discount on rain barrels to help water those May flowers.
The barrels capture rainwater from roofs so it can be used use later for everything from watering one's lawn and garden to washing one's car.
The barrels also help reduce stormwater runoff, meaning fewer pollutants wind up in waterways. Regular retail price for the barrels is $119, but the state is offering a limited number for $66 each.
Sussex County residents can get their barrels on May 16, in Lewes. Kent County residents can get theirs on May 18, in Woodside, and pick up for New Castle County residents is May 19, in Newark.
