Friendly Scuffle Ends With Boy Suffering Gunshot Wound In Mantua

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say a friendly scuffle among two adolescents resulted in gunfire and one of the boys being hospitalized.

The two were playing in an empty lot along Brown Street in Mantua around 8 p.m. Sunday. Police say the boys, ages 14 and 12, were involved in what detectives described as friendly horseplay when a handgun they had discharged.

The 12-year-old ran inside his home reporting he had been shot and he was rushed to Children's Hospital where he's listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators have not determined where the gun came from, and the incident remains under investigation. Charges were not immediately filed.
