New Starr Restaurant: Talula's Garden

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Restauranteur Stephen Starr is bringing back his old restaurant in Washington Square. Back when it opened, Washington Square Restaurant was one of the few restaurants in the city with an outdoor space.

"Washington Square was a restaurant that was okay for its time but its time had passed, so while we were waiting to figure out what to do with it, we rented it out for private events," said Starr.

Now, Starr has revamped it just in time for the al fresco dining season, with a new look and a new name: Talula's Garden.

"Well it's a tremendous space and the garden is just remarkable. We needed somebody to just sort of bring back the magic," Starr said.

Starr's business partner, Aimee Olexy, (Her daughter's middle name, Talula, inspired the restaurant's name.) characterizes the food as elegant.

"American food inspired by a garden and inspired by farms and creativity and the seasons for sure. Just beautiful, simple, elegant food," Olexy said.

Olexy says the garden's lettuces, herbs and flowers will be of great use to the restaurant.
