Delco Sex Offender Charged With Stalking, Sexting Teen Girl

MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) - A registered sex offender from Delaware County is back behind bars in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, accused of stalking and sending sexual text messages to a teenage girl he met at a party.

Police say Daniel Reynolds-Demchur, 21, of Havertown, is facing numerous charges including stalking, harassment and unlawful contact with a minor. They say Reynolds-Demchur met the 16-year-old girl at a party last weekend and gave her a cell phone. Police say he then sent several sexually explicit text messages.

Haverford police detective Dan Wallower says a friend of the victim became suspicious and found Reynolds-Demchur on the "Megan's Law" web site of sexual offenders.

"Something obviously by his behavior made her look it up," Det. Wallower explained. "And I think she did a wonderful thing for her friend to take care of themselves."

The victim called police after confronting the man at a church on North Manoa Road near West Chester Pike. She told police he wanted sexual favors in exchange for the cell phone.

Police say Reynolds-Demchur admitted meeting the juvenile and asking her for sex.
