Mayor Honors 3 Champion Basketball Teams From Philadelphia High Schools

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia can now brag that it has three championship high school basketball teams.

The three championship boys' basketball teams are Imhotep Charter, Neumann-Gorettti and Math, Civics and Science Charter high schools. All three won in their respective leagues. The teams were honored at City Hall.

Mayor Michael Nutter told the teams, that this was just the start of their lives and a template to follow,

"In the 21st century economy, you are going to need at least a college degree in order to be successful."

Coach Andre Noble of Imhotep said that won't be a problem for some of his senior players.

"We have three young men are committed to Division One basketball teams, and all of our seniors are accepted at least one university or college."

The mayor congratulated the team members and wished them all continued success so they could come back to their hometown, have good careers, big families and pay lots of future taxes.
